Why 1 Thessalonians 5:11? Why this? Why now?
When people meet me, it doesn't take them very long to figure out that I LOVE colours, specifically pink. I work at a pharmacy and one of my favourite parts of the job is all the colour combos of the different strengths of a particular drug that might be different colours in the same shade or a gradient of the same colour etc! So when I was introduced to a platform where I could play around with colours, designs and text I fell in love with it.
I'm 2 weeks away from finishing a 9 month Biblical based recovery course at my church (because let's face it, we're all broken in some way - more about this journey will come soon) and in the first few days of it, my friend and I were wondering why on earth we signed up for this and were feeling quite overwhelmed, and I came across an encouraging quote about courage and stuck it on a pretty backdrop and sent it to her and it really encouraged her and then I thought, well this probably would encourage the other women in our group too, so I set up a Facebook group and uploaded a quote or Scripture every day that was either designed by myself or something I had found.
So coming to the end of this course, realizing how much I loved doing this and how much even just a simple quote can encourage people, I wanted to create a space where I could do that for anyone. Phase 1 was just social media pages with regular posts, but I wanted to make it more personal and so I decided to do a Phase 2 and make a website and blog (not literally make, IT is not in my skill set but thankfully techy people have made it easy for us not-so-techy people!).
I've had a very interesting journey in the last couple of years in particular, I have learnt so much and needed Jesus more than ever and so many of these quotes and Scriptures hold a lot of meaning for me, so I've shared little snippets of that along with each Quote pic that I've made. And then this blog is going to unpack a little further some of the different lessons I've learnt and encouragements that have been given to me, and how every time, God comes through so incredibly faithfully. I would not be where I am today if it wasn't for God's amazing grace in my life and I'm so thankful for everything that He has done, and is continuing to do in my life as I share pieces of my story with you guys.
I picked 1 Thessalonians 5:11 because it's an instruction to encourage people and that's my 1 single goal for this - just to encourage people! Sharing your story always encourages people and so does God's promises so that's what you'll find here!
My hope and prayer for anyone who reads this, is that they would see that God is good, God is faithful, God loves you more than you can ever imagine, God will never leave you, and there is nothing you could ever do to change that. And I pray that you would be encouraged in knowing that you are not alone in your struggles, in your confusion, in your uncertainty, in your fears and in your pain.
